But to others, it's a reminder that our ancestors had a close relationship with death and respected the grieving process that is all but forgotten today. While at the Haunted America Conference, visit The Traveling Museum of Memento Mori, where you'll come face to face with dozens of artifacts connected to the complex Victorian mourning customs!
As you wander through the museum, you'll come to learn that this is a place where grief and love transcend time...

Those events have left a permanent impression on this little town, earning it a reputation as one of the most haunted small towns in America. In 2024, the Haunted America Conference returns to Alton -- the perfect setting for 27 years of America’s Original Ghost Conference! For generations, Alton has had a history of ghostly sightings, eerie events, and unexplained encounters -- often during our annual conference. Join us this year when you can experience the many hauntings of Alton, Illinois, for yourself!
THIS IS A “DIFFERENT” KIND OF PARANORMAL EVENT!
Join us in Alton, explore this historic and haunted region, and take part in our weekend events, but remember, this may not be like other ghost conferences that you've attended -- mostly because this is the conference that started it all! Founded in 1997, we set the stage for every event that has followed. This is not some sort of "meet and greet" with "celebrities" who sit at tables so you can pay for autographs -- this is a speaker-based event with presentations, discussions, question and answer sessions, hands-on workshops, tours, and much more!
The Haunted America Conference is always the most fun you'll have at a paranormal event, but we want to make sure that our guests always take away something from the weekend, including research on ghosts and hauntings they won't hear anywhere else, the opportunity to meet ghost enthusiasts from across the country, and the chance to be part of a real community of open-minded individuals with an interest in the unexplained. Whether attending for the first time or returning for another great year, we'll look forward to seeing you in Illinois in June 2024! After our first phenomenal event at the Lewis and Clark College campus in nearby Godfrey, Illinois, we’re returning for the conference in 2024! With professional audio and video, theater-style seating, a huge vendor room, and lots more space, this is a fantastic location for the event! We listened to all your ideas and suggestions, and we’ll be implementing as many of them as possible for this year’s conference! So, we hope to see you back at our new location for another great year!

Thanks to catering from Bella Milano, a cash bar will be located in the Vendor’s Room all weekend, offering soda and bottled water, along with beer, wine, and cocktails during prime hours. The more you drink, the better the conference is… just kidding! But we’ll definitely have refreshments on site!
